Here is Lepark. It is a Tapas bar. Tapas is actually of Spanish origins and it is basically appetisers or snacks that you eat will having a drink, preferably an alcoholic one. While having afew tapas and drinks, you are suppose to have conversations with friends. So you get the basic concept of a tapas bar. As a tapas bar, Lepark does serve that function. And they on occasion, have live music too.

Getting here is abit complicated so I suggest you click on the link below for my YouTube video for the directions.
Anyway, the nearest MRT station is Chinatown MRT. Proceed to Exit C. And take the escalators up until you com out of the MRT station and then head to the main road Eu Tong Sen Rd. Along the main road, there is an entrance to People's Park Complex, once you enter the entrance, you will see an elevator on you right. Take the elevator to the 5th floor. Once you exit the elevator, immediately turn right and you will see a door to an emergency staircase. Go thru the doors and you will see a flight of stair. Go up the flight of stairs and at the top is a door. Go thru the door and turn right. There you will see the Lepark. Their main door is actually the zinc roofing with the graffiti Lepark on it.
I actually like the decor of the place. The zinc roofing, with wood and the canteen style tables and benchs, gives it a laid back and relaxing feel. Almost makes you feel like lepark-ing.
There are 2 counters. The one directly at the door is the drinks counter and the one, right at the opposite end is the food order counter.
How to order :-
Drinks
Go to the drinks counter. On the counter itself, they place all the drinks they sell and the price. Place your order then make payment and take you drinks back to your table.
Food
1) Take a menu from the food ordering counter
2) Decide on what to order
3) Go to the food ordering counter and place your order
4) Make payment
5) You will be given a round buzzer thingy and you take that back to your table
6) When the buzzer thingy buzzes, you go and collect your food
We decided not to drink any alcoholic drink
Instead of a tray to carry our drinks, we were given a used cider cardboard carrier. Which I found quite amusing.
Next was the food. In the theme of a Tapas bar, we ordered appetiser/snacks instead of any mains. So I ordered 2 orders of SEY(Salted Egg Yolk) Soft Shell Crab Slider for $12 each and 1 order of Lepark Platter for $18
SEY(Salted Egg Yolk) Soft Shell Crab Slider
The taste of the SEY sauce by itself was nice. It has just the right consistency and taste like salted egg yolk. But when you try to eat it with the soft shell crab, the batter and oil of the soft shell crab, muted the taste of the SEY sauce. Also the SEY sauce soaked into the fried bread (mantou) and made the bread super soggy. It is also a mess to eat. Rating 2/6
Lepark Platter
As described in the menu. Chicken sushi, Thai Basil Pork Tau Pok, Prawn Paste Chicken Skin, Spam Fries and Nachos with Spicy Salsa. There are only 2 things in this platter that are worth mentioning.
So lets get what was not good or nothing special
Spam fries was just spam deep fried. No other seasoning or preparation. Rating 1/6
Prawn paste chicken skin was just deep fried chicken skin without any prawn paste taste. Rating 2/6
One of the items worth mentioning is the Chicken Sushi. They are trying to make Hainanese Chicken Rice into a one bite tapas. It was a good effort, the chicken is nicely poached and the rice is nicely flavoured with a Hainanese Chicken Rice chili sauce in it. But if you want to serve any Hainanese Chicken Rice inspired dish to any Singaporean, you must make sure that there are not any missing elements in there. It is our National Dish and we will know what is missing. So firstly, for my taste, abit more of the chili. Then there is no dark soy sauce and maybe abit of a ginger sauce. Rating 3/6
The other item is....... no not the nachos.... but the salsa. This asian sauce was good. Of what I could taste, there was tomato ketchup, a salsa sauce, chili, garlic and diced tomatoes.
Overall,
I like the atmosphere. It will be a nice and relaxing place to meet up with friend over afew drinks.
But the drinks are abit expensive. $12 for beer in bottle and $14- $18 for their craft beers. A glass of beer cost $8 and a jug cost $35 which is ok but I think there maybe something wrong with the math
here. (ie. normally a jug of beer contains 4 glasses of beer). Maybe they have special "jugs".
And the food. Well, of the food I ordered, maybe order something else. Rating 2/6
Lastly, pricing. I feel that overall, the pricing is abit expensive, especailly for a self-service establishment where you do everything yourself except cook the food.
